As Christians we are called to a life of gratitude to God and service to our neighbors. We take up this vocation with joy sharing our time, talents and treasures with those in need locally, state and US-wide, and internationally. Below is the list of our main mission partners.
Marlborough
- Katy Mahoney Backpack Program – provides kindergarten through grade 4 children with a new backpack filled with school supplies every August. In 2024, 78 backpacks were delivered.
- Stars and Angels – this annual program provides Christmas gifts to children that we ‘adopt’ through DCF.
- Marlborough Food Pantry – we collect food, toiletry and household items every week which are donated to the local food pantry.
- Our Father’s Table (OFT) – we provide a hot dinner meal, beverages, dessert and companionship to the homeless and needy of Marlborough in April, June, August, October, December and February on the third Thursday of the month. We serve the meals at the Rivers of Living Water Church on Main Street and usually have 30-35 guests.
Massachusetts
- LGBT Asylum Task Force, Worcester – we financially support this ministry to people fleeing persecution on account of their sexual orientation or gender identity and cook a meal for them once a year.
- Worcester Fellowship – we financially support this outdoor ministry church for homeless and at-risk adults, and we provide bagged lunches for their Sunday worship twice a year and regular sock donations for those in need.
- WAMS Works – volunteers from First Church help once a month with the distribution of diapers and hygiene kits for immigrant families under the New Neighbors program. W serve over 150 families each time.
International
- UCC disaster and outreach programs ~ these are supported through special Sunday offerings throughout the year or by assembling personal hygiene kits or CWS buckets.
- Ukraine Refugees in Poland – since 2022 together with many individuals and 52 UCC churches we have helped Lutheran, Reformed and Methodist congregations in Poland, who have housed and supported refugees fleeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
- Global Ministries – our regular mission partner since 1816, we support their mission co-workers and partners through our regular collections and weekly prayer updates. Our main focus has been the Church of the American Ceylon Mission in Sri Lanka and Christian education and relief in Israel-Palestine.
